Arginine - The Power amino acid

Arginine or L-Arginine is one of the semi-essential amino acids , which means that the body can form these amino acids under certain conditions. Infants, on the other hand, depend on dietary arginine intake. However, under certain conditions of life, such as stress, diet or competitive sports, arginine becomes an essential amino acid. The body can not produce arginine in such a case in sufficient quantity and must therefore take this through the diet and / or supplements, so there is no shortage. Arginine is a nitrogen source involved in a variety of normal physiological processes in the body. For example, it regulates the metabolism and is involved in protein formation. Arginine forms, among other things, the precursor of nitric oxide (NO), which plays a crucial role in the body especially in weight training. Within the biochemical metabolism, this can be built up and broken down, which subsequently leads to an increase in blood pressure. Increased blood pressure causes the blood vessels to dilate and expand, causing the veins to visibly protrude. Dietary supplements such as arginine, which lead to increased blood flow in the musculature, are also referred to as so-called "pump supplements". Especially because of this property arginine is used as an important component for pre-workout supplements during muscle building and definition phases.
