Glutamine – Preserve Your Muscles

Glutamine, also known as L-Glutamine, is one of the most important amino acids. It belongs to the group of non-essential amino acids, meaning that the body can produce Glutamine itself. Given the many metabolic processes that Glutamine is actively involved in, its high importance is not surprising. The highest concentration of Glutamine is found in muscle cells. Under heavy strain, the demand for Glutamine increases, and shortages can quickly occur. Therefore, Glutamine has been labeled as “conditionally essential” in training research. At a certain point, supplementation with Glutamine may be necessary to support the body from the outside. Deficiencies or Glutamine depletion in the muscle can occur, for example, through intensive training sessions or due to poor nutrition. Hence, it is particularly important to provide the body with sufficient amino acids during and especially after intense training sessions. Otherwise, the body may resort to using amino acids from the muscle mass, resulting in muscle degradation. Glutamine can counteract this process. It prevents the body from breaking down muscle and supports protein synthesis, which initiates muscle-building processes. The optimal time to supply Glutamine is after training, supporting the body's muscle maintenance processes. In very intense training phases, it is also recommended to supplement Glutamine in the morning after waking up and in the evening before going to bed – however, the amount should not exceed 10 grams per dose. Glutamine is suitable not only for strength training – endurance athletes can also improve recovery after training with Glutamine.

IronMaxx offers Glutamine Pro Powder, providing Glutamine in its purest form. This makes it ideal for a low-calorie diet, as it is completely free of carbohydrates or fats. Another IronMaxx product with an extremely high concentration of Glutamine is IronMaxx BCAAs + Glutamine, available in capsules or powder.
